You can't make a call with your Gear 4 if your phone is out of bluetooth range unless you have LTE. Your cell phone provider's numbersync makes your watch become a clone of your phone. I can leave my phone at home and still get messages, emails, calls, etc. even though I'm miles from home or if I'm at the very back of my yard. Being able to respond to all kinds of notifications from my watch is pretty nice. Helps me from feeling the need to pull out my phone.
