Re: Fiat Grande Punto 1.9 Multijet although some contenders are newest, the Punto is still looking very good. I'm just asking why Autocar tested the 1.9 multijet instead of the 1.3 or the good 1.4
It would also hold 3 suitcases if they aren't huge (like some of the students brought). I'd advise getting the diesel version if you do choose the Punto. It's powerful enough, and seemed to get good gas mileage. Just back from Italy and rented the Fiat in question and we packed two 26" suitcase in the luggage area.
For every whinge on any internet car forum there are probably 1000+ satisfied buyers. Sure my GPS drps water every time I open the hatch but doesn't nearly every other car? The Fiat GP is bloody good value for it's price. It's not a car to hold it's value but one that you should be able to run for many years then just give it to your children.
During May and June I must decide what car I will buy, although I will buy it in September and the best car about price and equipment is the Grande Punto 1.4 16V Sport for me. So, I think it will be my car. Like I said in my first post I like to put everything on it of the equipment, but I still consider about the Sky Dome sunroof.
Thoughts on fiat grande punto as a first car? Models from 2007, 2008, 2009. 1.3 multijet. Most of them have anywhere from 110k to 150k km on the clock. And it is around 4000€. Car will be used mostly for city driving.
Punto almost as good as Fiesta in 20-80 and far better in 40-100 yet Punto is sluggish and Fiesta is sprightly. Punto is better then Logan in 20-80 and smokes it in 40-100 yet Punto is sluggish. The difference in 0-100kmph seems a little huge. Can a 50kgs lighter car actually be that much faster? Fiesta does it in 17.13 while Punto does it in
I got up to 80mph (3000rpm) on an A-road and the engine still felt strong. The omens for the 90bhp model are very, very good. To me, the 1.3 multijet Active is a real steal at £8,495 (£9,095 for the 5dr) and is all the car most people will ever need. However, it must be noted Fiat have tacked the most god-awful set of alloy-look wheel trims
It would be a good time to learn how to do some maintenance on the car yourself, such as oil change, filters, spark plugs etc. You'll then have tools to be able to do it going forward, saving you money. Continental timing belt kit is £100, labour depends on garage but should be able to replace in about 3 hours.
